Frequently Asked Questions
What is the teacher to child ratio at Cultural Montessori Academy?
3 teachers for 12 children, which is 1 teacher for every 4. That is the whole school, not one classroom on a good day. We are a licensed child-care home, so enrollment is capped at 12 and the ratio holds from drop-off to pick-up. In practice it means a teacher notices when a child is ready for the next material and gives that lesson the same day, instead of waiting for the group to get there.
How is this different from the free public pre-K programs in the area?
Public pre-K is a real option and many families in Allen choose it. The difference families see here comes down to two things: how many children each teacher works with, and how the day is taught. At CMA a 4-year-old works with 1 teacher for every 4 children, using Montessori materials, and moves to the next lesson when they are ready rather than when the calendar says. Our suggestion is to ask every program you visit the same question: how many children per teacher, all day. Then compare the answers. We are glad to walk through both options with you during a tour.
Do you have openings, and what ages do you accept?
We accept children from 6 months to 6 years, in Infant, Toddler and Preschool groups. Enrollment is capped at 12, so a spot opens when a child moves up to the next group or graduates. That means availability changes by age, and some groups have a wait. Call or text (469) 795-1816 with your child's birth date and we will tell you whether there is a spot now or how long the wait is.
