About Us

Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator, recognized worldwide for developing the Montessori Method. She was the first woman to graduate in medicine in Italy and dedicated her life to observing child development and creating an educational approach based on independence, respect, and freedom with responsibility.
The method values each child’s natural pace, allowing them to explore, discover, and learn actively in an environment prepared specifically for their needs.
Her contribution went far beyond her time and left a legacy that we embrace at CMA: her philosophy, beliefs, and mission.
Our Mission
Our mission is to guide each child to reach their fullest potential through the Montessori approach, cultivating independence, creativity, and a sense of responsibility for themselves and the world around them.
Our Beliefs

Our Philosophy
We follow the Montessori philosophy, which sees each child as a unique and capable individual. We believe in hands-on learning, independence, and respecting each child’s natural pace of development.

About CMA
Cultural Montessori Academy was founded by Deborah Leal, a Brazilian educator who has lived in the United States for over 20 years.

Deborah began her teaching journey at the age of 21 in Brazil, after earning her degree in Biological Sciences. When she moved to the U.S., she discovered her purpose in early childhood education and soon fell in love with the Montessori Method.

Inspired by the principles of respect, independence, and each child’s individual potential, Deborah wanted to create an environment where children could learn with joy, freedom, and purpose. After obtaining the required licensing and preparing a warm and nurturing space, she founded CMA — which now has more than 11 years of history.

Since then, the school has become a trusted and loved place for many families. Parents often share how the Montessori experience at CMA has helped their children thrive in school and in life.
A Safe and Caring Environment
Over the years, approximately 100 children have attended Cultural Montessori Academy, creating a history built on trust, care, and meaningful development.
CMA also maintains a thoughtful teacher–student ratio of 3 teachers for every 12 children, ensuring individualized attention, close guidance, and a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Our school includes designated rest areas that offer comfort, safety, and a peaceful atmosphere. Each space is prepared to support relaxation and follow the natural rhythm of each age group, providing essential moments of rest throughout the day.
